My First Attempt At Marble Nails

So I have an interview tomorrow at one of the local clothes shops, and I want to give a great impression. This means doing my nails. As an excuse to try a new technique, I decided marbling would be a good idea. However, water marbling didn't quite go as planned and I ended up sitting and playing with the nail varnish in the water. So I used a different technique.

First of all I decided which nail varnishes I would use. As I am wearing a blue and white dress to my interview, I thought I would go with different shades of blue. So I used Barry M Nail Paint in 292 Navy, Barry M Nail Paint in 304 Mint Green (which is more of a blue) and Miss Sporty Clubbing Colours in Pop Fiction.

So I used Barry M Navy as a base coat, I thought it would be a good idea, just in case the colours weren't as vibrant as I had hoped. After I had let this dry, I opened all the bottles of nail varnish, so that I could easily take out the brushes. The next thing that I did was put dots of each colour in random places on my nails, the more nail varnish, the easier to marbles. Usually, a tooth pick is used to marble the colours, but instead a cut the cotton end off a cotton wool bud, and used my teeth to make the end of the plastic stick square.

To marble the colours together, I lightly dragged the plastic stick along my nails in random patterns. I find that it is a lot easier to do each nail separately so that the nail varnish doesn't dry before you can marble it.

This technique worked really well, and I think next time I will try using just two colours. I also found sometimes, the darker colour replaced the lighter one too much, so I put a little bit more light on than dark.

My Make-Up Buys of the Week

So this week I bought a lip and cheek tint, some new mascara and another foundation :p.
I decided after ages that I would try a lip tint, and I have to say that I'm rather impressed. Although it was only a cheap one for now, I may have to invest in BeneTint at some point.

After seeing all the adverts on TV and in magazines about this new 'wonder' mascara, I decided to purchase Maybelline Volum' Express One by One mascara. I quite like it, although I find that it doesn't declump as well as I would have liked.

Although I like Dream Satin Foundation, I decided to go back to Bourjois as I prefer the colour match to my skin tone. So instead of buying Healthy Mix, I decided I would give 10 Hour Sleep Effect a go. And I am definitely pleased with it, I will however be trying a tip I found online, and mixing a white foundation in with mine to get the perfect skin match.

I will put proper reviews of all of these on during the week :)
